On 3 October 2024, Czech partner EPMA organised an event “How to go digital in teaching and learning” as part of the training activities, where students and teachers could experience together different technologies and online tools that can be used to make teaching and collaboration more effective. This event focused on developing digital skills and integrating technology into the learning process.
This event was joined by 50 teachers and students from 4 Jihlava primary schools (Vysočina Region, the Czech Republic) who spent the whole day working together in small groups. The topic they dealt with throughout the programme was children’s rights. The teachers and students then created digital outputs on this topic and explored how they can use these activities in their teaching.
The introduction included the presentation of our A3Learning project, and the activities of the National Pedagogical Institute (NPI) and its regional office, which co-organised the event, as they support teachers and focus on improving their educational skills.
One of the first activities was a hands-on online collaboration between students and teachers in a shared environment where they stored information and audiovisual materials on children’s rights and prepared for further activities. This activity also included an introduction to the OrgPad tool, which offers interesting possibilities for visualising information.
Specific outputs were created at individual stations, where students and teachers tried creating a live poster in Canva and a multimedia presentation in PowerPoint. They also looked at creating online survey forms and how to use the survey results. Participants also created short animations in Stop Motion, explored the possibilities of 3D printing using ready-made models and custom designs in Tinkercad, and last but not least, learned about working with artificial intelligence (AI). Participants tried their hand at communicating with AI by entering specific prompts and discovered how AI can generate text and visual outputs.
The work at the stations was led by experienced trainers who explained to participants how these activities can be used in the classroom and school environment (to present topics, to create school projects) and also answered specific questions about the applications they were using.
The event was possible thanks to the cooperation and financial support of NPI, and thanks to the support of the Vysočina Region and the Statutory City of Jihlava, whose cooperation was crucial for the organization of this event.
