INOVA+ Presents Digital Competence Model for Educators at ICERI2024 Conference

As a key partner in the A3Learning project consortium, INOVA+ took part in the 17th International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI2024), held from November 11 – 13 in Seville, Spain.

Despite the conference being an in-person event, INOVA+ delivered its presentation virtually, showcasing a poster based on their submitted paper, which highlights a significant outcome of the A3Learning project: the Competence Model for Teachers.

The paper, titled “Enhancing ICT Skills in Education: The A3Learning Competence Model for Digital Literacy and Blended Learning,” addresses the pressing need to improve ICT skills among both teachers and students—a challenge that became even more evident during the abrupt transition to remote learning brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Competence Model is based on the European DigCompEdu framework and focuses on three core areas: professional engagement, digital resources, and teaching strategies.

This model aims to empower educators by equipping them with essential digital skills to effectively integrate innovative technologies into their teaching, especially within blended learning environments. Its development was driven by co-design sessions, surveys, and focus groups with educators from Czechia, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Italy, highlighting varying levels of digital literacy among teachers and underscoring the need for ongoing professional development.

By aligning with EU standards, this paper makes a valuable contribution to the current discourse on digital literacy in education, offering insights that can help drive innovation in teaching practices.

ICERI2024, one of Europe’s premier education conferences, provided an excellent platform for educators and researchers to engage, share, and learn.
